Growing Mustaches for Prostate Cancer

Movember - awareness for men's health

Now that we are a few weeks into November you have probably noticed men around you or on TV that are sporting some extra facial hair. Most likely, this isn’t because they are lazy or their electric razor needs to be charged. It is probably because they are raising awareness for men’s health through a global awareness campaign known as, Movember.

According to the Movember Foundation, the non-profit organization behind the campaign, men experience worse longer-term health than women and die on average six years earlier.

The Movember Foundation funds ground-breaking programs all over the world in three main focus areas, engaging men where they are, to help make change happen sooner. Their areas of focus are: prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health/suicide prevention.

Growing a mustache during the month of November is a way to draw attention to the cause and to men’s health. Men of all ages can directly participate in raising awareness simply by sporting some unique facial hair.

So even if you decide not to grow a special Mo yourself this month, take note of mustaches you see around you and learn more about men’s health statistics and how the Movember Foundation is making a difference at www.movemberfoundation.org.
