Matthew Hassan, MD
Matthew Hassan, MD was raised in Cincinnati, Ohio and was a star athlete in high school playing on a championship baseball team, as well as being named all-city in golf. He received his Bachelor of Arts at Princeton University, earning Magna Cum Laude honors. Dr. Hassan earned his medical degree at Vanderbilt School of Medicine. He was the chief resident in Urologic Surgery at Vanderbilt and was awarded the Candle (Caring, Advocating, Nurturing, Determination, Leadership, Empathy) Award for his positive impact on the lives of physicians in training at Vanderbilt. He also won repeated Patient’s Choice Awards while in practice.
Dr. Hassan has published numerous articles in leading urologic journals, as well as presented at national and international meetings, He also authored a book chapter in Urologic Oncology, a text commonly used in training urologic residents.
Dr. Hassan’s special interests include urologic oncology, particularly minimally invasive treatments for prostate cancer such as robotic surgery using the da Vinci Surgical System as well as HIFU. He has been performing HIFU since 2016 and has helped build the HIFU program at Urology Associates of Nashville. In addition to diagnosing and treating urologic malignancies, he is well trained and experienced in treating stone disease, erectile dysfunction, and incontinence.
